Job Description summary:  Under the direction of the Department Coordinator, directs the basic operations of the branch/department in the absence of supervisor, assists with basic supervisory functions, provides leadership in areas of technology, and works on special high-level departmental projects.

Job Duties:

  • Makes decisions regarding library policy such as forgiving fines, etc.
  • Handles departmental money and bank deposits
  • Answers Reference questions
  • Directs staff in case of  emergencies
  • Calls for substitutes when necessary
  • May participate in new hire interview process
  • Helps maintain staff  schedule
  • Helps facilitate new hire On-the-Job Training
  • Oversees pages
  • Helps with development of departmental procedures
  • Models positive customer service attitude
  • Assists patrons with computer software and hardware questions
  • Acts as resource person for staff on computer programs
  • Maintains specialized databases as assigned

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, sit, bend, twist, stoop, reach and grasp, walk push, pull or lift materials or equipment weighing 15 pounds or more and manually manipulate computer keyboard mouse and scanner etc. 

Employment Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in related field with progress toward Bachelor's Degree
  • Two years similar job experience
  • One year of business/management experience
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs
